The art of Ray Caesar

I stumbled across this while following links blindly from a MySpace page I happen to know.

The art of Ray Caesar
Ray Caesar MySpace page

The art on these pages is amazing, for quite a few reasons. Like art should, it provokes different feelings, but I didnt expect them to all come at once over each and every piece. Delicate in construction, delicate in feature, yet strong in subject paradox, Ray's art is mind-expandingly unique.

I dont know whether to be curious, provoked, sickened, disturbed, aroused, sad, happy, or otherwise. Definitely one to browse through the galleries and let yourself ruminate on the progressive thoughts you come up with.

Twenty-two Yards - The installation

Twenty-two Yards is an installation that grew out of a germ of an idea owing to the Australian male psyche being infatuated with sports, and many of the details thereof.

Twenty-two Yards is a simple, disposable installation created from found objects, the realisation of which resulted in three cylindrical forms striking upwards from a level base.

The comparisons area obvious, yet the fact that it is a single grouping has significance. Is it the end? Is it the beginning? Why is there no horizontal piece? Is it the culmination of a days endeavour? Is the piece awaiting the gladiators to move and gambol around it?

The Somnambulant High-seas Tyrant

A quick tool over to my oft-vistited 'sister' blog, if you will, reveals that a certain EB has been busily posting over the last two weeks, unlike my good self.

Go!

With my limited artistic appreciation skills and understanding of what drives artists, I find it a combination of thought-provoking, nepotistic, wildly amusing, varied and intelligent.

I suppose somnambulant isn't quite the right word, but hey, verbosity is fun.
